About Kilspindie

Set on Scotland’s famed Golf Coast in East Lothian, Kilspindie offers something entirely different, a slice of golfing history dating back to 1850, where charm and challenge meet. Only 30 minutes from Edinburgh and surrounded by over twenty other top-rated courses, this is the perfect spot for an authentic yet comfortable Scottish golf break.

It may be short, but the wind, rolling fairways, and devilish green sites turn it into a shot maker’s playground. Just next door Craigielaw’s championship course, delivers a modern links test built for match play. Expect clever bunkering, bold greens, and a layout that rewards smart thinking over raw power. Between the two, you’ll find every kind of thrill links golf can offer, all within walking distance.

Off the course, the experience feels effortlessly Scottish. A historical clubhouse takes you back in time, while nearby Aberlady and Gullane offer pubs, distilleries, and sea-view walks perfect for unwinding between rounds. Whether you’re here to chase birdies, soak up coastal scenery, or simply enjoy good company and great food, Craigielaw and Kilspindie make for a golf trip that’s as welcoming as it is unforgettable.

Sherpa Review

by Jamie Fleming

Highly Recommended
Don't be fooled by the length of the course, as the wind and natural terrain makes this more complex that it initially looks, particularly the opening 4 holes. These are some of the toughest on the course and all run parallel to the ocean. Get to hole 5 with your original ball and your going to have a good day.

Elsewhere on the course an errant shot can easily result in a triple or quad being made, making every hole an opportunity for dramatic shifts in momentum. This is especially true of the closing 16/17/18th holes, which seem specifically designed to decide the outcome of a Ryder Cup style competition all in view of the clubhouse patio.

Courses at Kilspindie

Kilspindie

Kilspindie Golf Club, located in Aberlady, East Lothian, Scotland, is a historic links course founded in 1867 with the current 18-hole layout designed by Willie Park Jr. and Ben Sayers opening in 1898. As one of the oldest clubs in the world, it offers a traditional Scottish seaside links experience with stunning views of the Firth of Forth and Edinburgh. While not the longest course at around 5500 yards, its well-defined fairways, pot bunkers, and deceptive greens provide a challenging test, especially in the wind. Notable features include the opening par-3 and the signature 8th hole played across Gosford Bay. The course runs alongside the nature reserve of Aberlady Bay. Visitors are welcome year-round, with booking recommended.
