Seaton Carew Golf Club (Bishop)

Seaton Carew Golf Club, established in 1874, is one of the oldest golf clubs in England. Situated on the coast in County Durham, it's a traditional links course known for its firm, fast-draining sandy soil and challenging but fair test of golf. Originally a 14-hole course, it was extended to 18 holes in 1891. A significant redesign took place in 1924 by the renowned architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie. Later, in the 1970s, Frank Pennink added four more holes, resulting in a unique 22-hole layout that allows for different course configurations, including the Bishop course. The course features narrow fairways threading through low-lying dunes, well-bunkered and fast-running greens, and deep, steeply-faced bunkers. Seaton Carew has a history of hosting national and international amateur events, including the Brabazon Trophy and the English Amateur Championships.
