Established in 1894, the Harlech links has long been ranked within the ‘Top Fifty’ of British golf courses, ranked 2nd in the Top 50 Courses in Wales by Golf World and also in top 100 by Golf Digest world’s Top 100 courses. The setting is matchless, and the golfing challenge of equivalent grandeur: over the years nearly eighty championships of national or international stature have been played at Harlech.
The course is located on the linksland of Morfa Harlech, set in a breathtaking natural landscape. The unique geography sees the course dominated by the brooding presence of the 13th-century Harlech Castle, which provides a stunning backdrop to several holes. The layout offers panoramic views of the Snowdonia mountains and Tremadog Bay. The front nine is played over flatter terrain, while the back nine takes you into a gigantic line of towering sand dunes, dramatically increasing the challenge and offering classic, engaging links holes.
