Royal Cromer Golf Club
Cliff-top Course in Cromer, England
Royal Cromer Golf Club, established in 1888, is a historic course situated on the dramatic North Norfolk coastline. Originally designed by Old Tom Morris, with later input from notable architects like John Henry Taylor and James Braid, the course is perched on a cliff-top offering spectacular views of the sea from nearly every hole. While having coastal characteristics such as sandy hills and gorse, the turf often plays more like an inland course. The layout is undulating, presenting a varied challenge with holes that require both accuracy and strategic thinking. The club was granted its 'Royal' status early on through the patronage of the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII. Royal Cromer Golf Club was also the host of the Ladies British Amateur Open Championship in 1905, which is considered a forerunner to the Curtis Cup. The course has been recognized as one of the top 100 courses in England.
