Parklands Golf Club

Nestled within the picturesque High Gosforth Park in Newcastle upon Tyne, Parklands Golf Club has a history dating back to 1966 when it was established as the John Jacobs Golf Centre. Originally just a driving range, a nine-hole course was added in 1971, at which point it was known as Wideopen Golf Club. The club came under the ownership of High Gosforth Park Company in 1977 and was later renamed Parklands Golf Club in 1986. The current 18-hole parkland course, which measures 6060 yards, offers a test for golfers of various abilities with its narrow fairways and strategically placed bunkers. While not having hosted The Open Qualifying directly under the name "Parklands," nearby courses in Ayrshire have a rich history of hosting Open Championship qualifying events.
