Minchinhampton Golf Club (Old Course)
Parkland Course in Stroud, England
Minchinhampton Golf Club's Old Course, established in 1889, offers a truly traditional golfing experience on Minchinhampton Common in England. Designed with input from Robert Black "Buff" Wilson, who apprenticed under Old Tom Morris, the course is laid out on common land and features natural undulations, iron age fortifications, and quarries as hazards, rather than man-made bunkers. The course routing has evolved over the years, and it is known for its unique character, including shared use of the common by walkers, horses, and cattle. While the club's other two courses, the Avening and Cherington, have been used for Open Championship Regional Qualifying, the Old Course provides a distinct, less manicured test of golf.
