Macdonald Hill Valley Golf & Country Club (Emerald)

Nestled in the Shropshire countryside, the Emerald Course at Macdonald Hill Valley Golf & Country Club has been a fixture since 1975. Designed by Ryder Cup players Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas, the course is known for its undulating, tree-lined fairways and strategic water hazards and bunkers. It's considered a premier course in Shropshire and has hosted professional tournaments, seeing the likes of Nick Faldo and Sandy Lyle on its fairways. Founder Albert Minshall, who began work on the course in 1973, even employed a young Ian Woosnam as a greenkeeper. While not consistently ranked in the top 100 courses in Great Britain, it has appeared on such lists. The course has a history of supporting developing golfers and has hosted PGA EuroPro tournaments.
