Formby Golf Club, situated on England's Golf Coast in Merseyside, is a classic championship links course with a rich history dating back to its founding in 1884. Initially a 9-hole layout by Willie Park Jr. the course was expanded to 18 holes and has seen contributions from esteemed architects such as James Braid, Harry Colt, Fred Hawtree, JH Taylor, and Donald Steel over the years. While primarily a links course traversing mature sand dunes and undulating fairways, it also offers a parkland feel in areas dotted with heather and trees, creating a unique blend of styles. The course is routed in a counter-clockwise circle around the adjacent Formby Ladies Golf Club. Known for its well-protected greens and challenging bunkers, Formby has been recognized as a top course in the UK. It has a strong amateur championship pedigree, having hosted The Amateur Championship multiple times and the Curtis Cup. Formby Golf Club has also served as a qualifying course for The Open Championship on several occasions, including in 1924, 1971, and 1996.
