Royal Troon Golf Club, established in 1878 in Troon, South Ayrshire, Scotland, is a renowned links golf course. It is a private club with 45 holes, including the championship Old Course, the Portland Course, and the nine-hole Craigend Course. The Old Course was originally designed by George Strath and Willie Fernie, with significant alterations and lengthening by James Braid in 1923. It is known for being a challenging links course with deep bunkers and undulating greens. The inward nine is considered particularly demanding due to the prevailing north-westerly wind. The Old Course has hosted numerous prestigious tournaments, including multiple Open Championships and the Women's British Open. The club offers various facilities including a clubhouse with a restaurant and bar, a pro shop, practice facilities (including a driving range, putting green, pitching green, chipping green, and practice bunker), and caddie hire. Visitors are welcome on certain days and times, and advance booking is recommended. Handicap requirements are in place for visitors (Gents 20, Ladies 30).
