Walton Heath Golf Club, situated in Surrey, England, is home to two highly regarded heathland courses, with the Old Course holding a consistent position in the world's top 100 rankings since 1938. Designed by Herbert Fowler and opened in 1904, the Old Course is known for its challenging layout that demands a variety of shots, often requiring a links-like approach despite its inland location. The course features firm, fast greens and is characterized by the prevalent heather bordering the fairways, which, while visually appealing, poses a significant challenge to errant shots. The club has a rich history, with notable past members including British Prime Ministers and royalty, and five-time Open champion James Braid served as the club professional for 46 years. Walton Heath has a strong championship pedigree, having hosted numerous significant events, including the 1981 Ryder Cup and five European Opens. It has also served as a venue for U.S. Open Final Qualifying, a testament to its demanding nature and standing in the game.
