Tyneside

Parkland Course in Ryton, England

Tyneside Golf Club, established in 1879, stands as one of the oldest clubs in the North East of England. The current course, a parkland layout with views of the River Tyne and valley, was designed by the renowned architect Harry S Colt in 1911. Known for its quality greens and excellent drainage due to its sand and gravel base, the course is often playable year-round. While not exceptionally long at just over 6,000 yards with a par of 70, it presents a good test with distinct holes offering variety, including four par 3s playing to different compass points. The club has a historical connection to Open Championship winners Mungo Park and Willie Park Jnr. It has also served as a Regional Qualifying venue for The Open.
