Royal Eastbourne Golf Club, established in 1887 and granted the Royal prefix by Queen Victoria within a month of its founding, is a traditional members' club situated in East Sussex, England. The club offers 27 holes across two courses: the 18-hole Devonshire Course and the 9-hole Hartington Course. The Devonshire Course, named after the Duke of Devonshire, is the flagship course, featuring a blend of parkland and downland terrain with views of Eastbourne and the English Channel. The course, which has seen design input from figures like Horace Hutchinson and later modifications by John Henry Taylor and Charles Kenneth Cotton, presents a test with a mix of open fairways, narrow doglegs, and challenging bunkers. It retains some original Hutchinson greens and old-fashioned design traits. The course is playable year-round due to good drainage.
