Established in 1993, the course was designed with the natural landscape in mind by J Pott, featuring an eighteen-hole, par 71 layout. While the name suggests a downland course, it plays more like a parkland track with mature trees influencing play. The course provides a fair challenge for golfers of all levels, with some shorter par-3s and drivable par-4s offering birdie opportunities. The clubhouse, built from Cotswold stone, provides a welcoming atmosphere for players to relax after a round. The club has seen some redevelopment in recent years, including changes to a couple of holes to accommodate an equine training facility on the estate. There is no indication that Naunton Downs Golf Club has been a venue for Open Championship Qualifying.
