Hexham Golf Club
Parkland Course in Hexham, England
Nestled in the picturesque Tyne Valley in Northumberland, Hexham Golf Club offers a parkland golf experience steeped in history. Established in 1892, the club moved to its current site in 1907, with early input on the course design from esteemed figures like Harry Vardon and James Braid. The layout as it is known today is largely the result of a remodelling by Charles Kenneth Cotton in the 1950s. Set on the south bank of the River Tyne, the course traverses a mature and gently undulating landscape, providing a pleasant walk with views of the surrounding countryside. The 18-hole, par 70 course measures around 6000-6300 yards from the main tees and is known for having consistently good greens. It presents a fair test of golf with some engaging holes, including those with tricky doglegs and strategically placed bunkers. The club is set against the backdrop of a historic Grade 1 listed clubhouse, adding a touch of architectural interest. While a well-regarded local course, Hexham Golf Club has not served as a host venue for Open Championship Qualifying.
