Barton-on-Sea Golf Club, perched on the coastal cliffs of Hampshire, England, offers a compelling blend of history and engaging golf. Founded in 1897, the club's current 27-hole configuration is a result of design influences from notable architects. The initial 18-hole layout, established in 1932, is attributed to the renowned Harry Colt, while a later addition of nine holes in 1992 was designed by J. Hamilton Stutt. This combination provides three distinct loops of nine: Becton, Needles, and Stroller. The Stroller and Becton combination presents a par 71 challenge. The course is characterized by its coastal links-style elements, undulating fairways, and strategically placed hazards, including water and gorse. The exposed clifftop location means that sea breezes often play a significant role, adding a strategic dimension to shot-making. Visitors can expect picturesque views across the Solent towards the Isle of Wight and the Needles. The club has hosted regional qualifying tournaments in the past.
