Western Gailes Golf Club

Western Gailes Golf Club, founded in 1897 on the Ayrshire coast of Scotland, is a renowned 18-hole, par 71 links course situated on a narrow strip of land between the railway and the sea. The course layout, influenced by architects including F. Morris, Fred Hawtree, Tom Simpson, and Ebert (Martin Ebert), presents a challenging test of links golf with undulating fairways, numerous bunkers, three meandering burns, and coastal winds. It features a memorable stretch of holes along the coastline offering views of the Isle of Arran and Ailsa Craig, as well as a notably difficult 17th hole. Western Gailes is recognized as one of Scotland's top links courses and has hosted various prestigious championships and Open Championship qualifiers. The club welcomes visitors daily, adhering to handicap limits and a dress code. Facilities include a clubhouse with dining and bar areas, a pro shop, practice areas (short game area and putting green, but no on-site driving range), changing rooms, lockers, caddie hire, club rental, and trolley hire.
