About Wrekin Golf Club
Nestled beneath the prominent Wrekin hill and adjacent to the ancient Ercall woods in Shropshire, Wrekin Golf Club, established in 1905, offers a picturesque parkland golf experience in England. The course, which moved to its current site in 1907 with an exhibition match played by Harry Vardon and George Duncan in 1910, underwent redesign in the 1970s but retains its challenging character. Playing to a par of 66 over a modest yardage, the layout features no par fives but includes six par threes, demanding precise iron play. The course is known for its undulating greens and emphasis on strategic positioning, a test that has been acknowledged by notable players. Surrounded by natural woodland, golfers can enjoy inspiring views across the North Shropshire plain, providing a scenic backdrop to a challenging yet fair round.
