Royal Automobile Club (Coronation Course)

The Royal Automobile Club's Coronation Course, located at Woodcote Park in Surrey, England, is an engaging parkland test. Opened in 1953 to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, the course was designed by F.R. Smith on the site of the former New Course, which had been used for food production during the Second World War. While the Old Course at Woodcote Park has a longer history dating back to 1915 and designed by Herbert Fowler, the Coronation Course offers a different character. It is generally considered the shorter and more approachable of the two courses at the Club. The course features tree-lined fairways and smaller greens, demanding accuracy rather than brute strength. The 17th hole, originally a par three known as 'Fowler's Pride' on the earlier layout, was incorporated into the Coronation Course as a par four.
