The PGA National course at The Belfry, designed by Dave Thomas and opened in 1997, offers a stern test of golf in the heart of England. Known for its inland links aesthetic, the course is characterized by its seventy strategic bunkers and four lakes that bring water into play on eight holes. As the only PGA branded course in England, it was designed as a tournament venue and has a history of hosting European Tour events and the Seniors European Open. While The Belfry is perhaps most famous for the Ryder Cups held on its Brabazon course, events held at the resort, such as the British Masters, have also served as Open Championship Qualifying locations. The PGA National demands precision and strategic thinking, particularly around its large, undulating greens and fast-running fairways, providing a compelling challenge for visiting golfers.
