Mickleover Golf Club
Parkland Course in Derby, England
Mickleover Golf Club, established in 1923, is a parkland course located in Derby, England. Initially a nine-hole layout, it was extended to 18 holes two years later. The original course was impacted by the construction of the A38, leading to a redesign by Cotton, Frank Pennink, Lawrie and Partners. The present 18-hole, par-69 course, measuring just over 5700 yards from the white tees, opened in 1973. It is known for requiring accuracy rather than exceptional length, with challenging tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers. The course features some notable par 3s, including the 2nd with an elevated green and the demanding 6th. Mickleover has hosted several amateur events, including the Midlands Boys Amateur Championship in 2011 and the Midland Open Amateur Championship in 2016.
