Harewood Downs Golf Club
Parkland Course in Chalfont St Giles, England
Harewood Downs Golf Club, situated outside Amersham in Buckinghamshire, England, boasts a history dating back to 1907. Originally conceived for a membership primarily composed of politicians and lawyers, the course was laid out by the accomplished John Henry Taylor and Horace Hutchinson. The layout saw alterations shortly after its inception and further modifications in later years, including recommendations from James Braid in 1928 and work by Major Cecil Key Hutchison in 1937. Set across undulating terrain on the south-facing side of the Misbourne Valley, the course offers views of the rolling Chiltern Hills. Playing to a par of 69 from the white or yellow tees, and a par 72 from the red tees, the course is described as having enough challenge for experienced players. Recent investments have seen the introduction of USGA specification greens and a bunker renovation project overseen by Mackenzie & Ebert (Martin Ebert). The club has previously been a regional qualifying venue for the Open Championship.
