Ashridge Golf Club
Parkland Course in Berkhamsted, England
Ashridge Golf Club, established in 1932, is situated within the historic Ashridge Estate in Hertfordshire, England. The course was originally designed by Major Cecil Key Hutchison, Guy Campbell (Sir Guy Campbell), and Stafford Vere Hotchkin, with later significant refinements by Tom Simpson. Set in undulating parkland, the course makes excellent use of the natural terrain and features strategically placed bunkering. Ashridge has a history of hosting notable events, including serving as a regional qualifying venue for The Open Championship for six years between 2003 and 2008. The club was also home to the legendary Sir Henry Cotton in the late 1930s, who won the 1937 Open Championship while associated with Ashridge. The course is known for its challenging par threes and subtle, tricky greens. While accuracy is often rewarded over length, the course offers a balanced test for golfers.
