Epsom Golf Club (Main Course)

Epsom Golf Club, established in 1889, is situated atop the Epsom Downs in Surrey. The course began as two rudimentary layouts before being combined and formally established. J Hatchard-Smith, a London architect, designed the club's first purpose-built clubhouse, which was completed in 1893 and is noted as the first in Surrey. The course itself is an 18-hole, par-70 layout measuring 5,780 yards from the white tees. It's characterized as a traditional downland course with undulating fairways and greens, demanding strategic play and accuracy rather than just distance. A notable feature is that the 18th green is reportedly the only level green and also the only one to feature bunkers. The chalk subsoil provides excellent drainage, allowing for play even in wetter conditions. While not a frequent Open Qualifying venue, the club does host various amateur open events.
