Ellesmere Golf Club, located in Worsley, Greater Manchester, England, has a history stretching back to 1913 when it was founded following a petition to the Earl of Ellesmere for land for a golf course. Initially established as a 9-hole course primarily for the Earl's employees, it expanded to 18 holes in 1928. The parkland course, measuring 6287 yards with a par of 70 from the white tees, is known for its mature trees and interesting holes, including a signature par 3 ninth. The club acquired additional land in 1993, part of the former Sandhole Colliery site, allowing for the construction of four new holes. Ellesmere has invested in course improvements over the years, including tree planting, bunker remodelling, and a state-of-the-art irrigation system. The course is generally well-maintained and offers a fair test of golf.
