The Lee Westwood Filly course at Close House, located in Heddon-on-the-Wall, England, offers a serene parkland golf experience with picturesque views of the Tyne Valley. Originally a 9-hole university course dating back to the 1960s, it was expanded to 18 holes and significantly upgraded in 2007. In 2013, Lee Westwood collaborated with architect Scott Macpherson on a redesign, introducing new bunkers and tees to enhance strategic play. The course, measuring 6,034 yards from the medal tees with a par of 70, features undulating USGA specification greens that demand a good touch with the putter. Accuracy off the tee is also crucial due to the placement of over 30 fairway bunkers. While not hosting the high-profile events of its sister course, the Colt, the Filly has been the venue for PGA professional events and provides an enjoyable yet challenging round for golfers of all abilities.
