Bungay and Waveney Valley Golf Club, situated on the border of Norfolk and Suffolk, offers a traditional heathland golf experience in the picturesque Waveney Valley. Founded in 1889, the club's 18-hole course is routed across Bungay Common, a site historically used for local sport. The initial 9-hole layout was designed by Willie Fernie, with James Braid later remodelling and expanding the course to 18 holes in 1901. The terrain is gently undulating heathland, occasionally interrupted by sudden ravines, and characterised by gorse, pine, and birch trees. The natural sandy soil ensures the course is well-drained and playable year-round. While not overly long at just over 6,000 yards from the white tees, the par 69 course presents a test with several par 4s exceeding 400 yards and only one par 5. Accuracy is key due to small, well-protected greens.
