Bristol & Clifton Golf Club, founded in 1891, is set on mature parkland just a short distance from the city of Bristol in England. The club's history includes an initial nine-hole layout that was expanded to eighteen holes by 1895. The course underwent a significant redesign in 1948 by Charles Kenneth Cotton, introducing new holes and altering the routing, though earlier notable architects like H.S. Colt and Alister MacKenzie also had a historical association, with Alister MacKenzie credited in relation to the 10th green. The course is known for its undulating terrain and tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy, while the greens can be quick, particularly in the summer months. Bristol & Clifton has been a venue for prestigious amateur events, including the Carris Trophy and the English Women's Open Stroke Play Championship, showcasing its quality as a regional test of golf. While it has hosted qualifying events, it has not been a venue for The Open Championship (R&A) qualifying.
