Charles Hugh "C.H." Alison was a highly influential British golf course architect, best known for his long-term partnership with Harry Colt in the firm Colt, Alison & Morrison. A master of strategic design, he was particularly renowned for his sophisticated bunkering and green complexes, often creating deep, penal, yet aesthetically pleasing hazards often referred to as "Alison Bunkers." His work, both independently and with Colt, spanned the globe, significantly shaping courses across the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, and most notably leaving a profound legacy in Japan, where he designed many of the country's most revered layouts like Hirono and Kawana Fuji.
