Bolton Old Links Golf Club

Nestled on the edge of the West Pennine Moors, Bolton Old Links Golf Club offers a challenging moorland test with a rich history. Established in 1891 as Bolton Golf Club, the club moved to its current Smithills location and was renamed “Old Links” in 1912. The present 18-hole layout, which opened in 1924, owes much of its design to the renowned architect Dr Alister MacKenzie. Playing across undulating terrain, the course features two loops of nine, with the back nine encircling the front. Expect the wind to be a factor, adding to the strategic demands of the holes. From the course's highest point at the 12th hole, panoramic views of the surrounding counties can be enjoyed. Bolton Old Links has a history of hosting professional events and was notably a venue for Open Championship Qualifying in 1975.
