Beauport Park golf Course ( Course)

Beauport Park Golf Course, located in East Sussex, England, is an 18-hole parkland course with a rich history dating back to its opening in 1973. Commissioned by Hastings Borough Council, the course was designed by renowned golf architect Frank Pennink. Situated on a portion of the former Beauport Park estate, the course incorporates many of the rare and unusual trees originally planted by General Sir James Murray in the 18th century, notably influencing holes such as the 3rd, 10th, and 12th. While initially intended as a championship course for public play, its length of just over 6,100 yards made it unsuitable for major championships. Despite periods of challenging management after the council sold the freehold in the early 1990s, a new team took over in 2018 and has been working to restore the course to its earlier condition. Beauport Park was among the busiest public courses in the south of England in the mid-1980s. While it may not feature in the top rankings of courses in Sussex, its demanding topography provides a stern test of golf, with a course record that underscores its resistance to scoring. A player from Beauport Park participated in Open Championship regional qualifying in the past.
