Ashford (Kent) Golf Club, established in 1903, is a private members' club with a rich history. The club initially started with a seven-hole course at Bybrook, which was extended to nine holes within its first two years. Financial pressures and world wars impacted the club, leading to temporary closures and a decline in membership. The present 18-hole parkland course was first laid out in 1926 and opened in 1927 at Sandyhurst Farm, designed and construction supervised by David Herd, the professional at Littlestone Golf Club. Following land acquisition for motorway construction in 1980, the course was remodelled with Charles Kenneth Cotton retained as architect, and the current clubhouse was built. The course is known for its tree-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and undulating greens, providing a test for golfers of all abilities. The River Great Stour also runs through the tranquil setting. While the course has a notable history and design influences, it is not a well-known top 100 course or a consistent Open Qualifying location, although it has hosted various amateur open competitions.
