Nestled on the outskirts of Newport in Wales, Llanwern Golf Club presents a mature parkland test with a history dating back to 1928, its current 18-hole configuration established in 1937. This par 70 course, stretching over 6100 yards, is recognised by some as a hidden gem in the UK golf landscape. The layout is largely level, though features an uphill ninth and a corresponding downhill tenth. Play requires accuracy to navigate tree-lined fairways, with the primary hazards being small ditches rather than extensive water features. The round concludes with a memorable par three 18th hole. While not having hosted Open Qualifying, Llanwern Golf Club has been a venue for various PGA Professional events, international matches, and national and county competitions.
