Prestwick Golf Club is a historic links course in Prestwick, Ayrshire, Scotland, known as the birthplace of The Open Championship, which it hosted 24 times, including the first 12. The club was founded in 1851 with a 12-hole layout by Old Tom Morris and expanded to 18 holes in 1883. The course is a traditional links design with undulating terrain, blind shots, and challenging greens. Notable holes include the par five 'Cardinal' with a deep, sleepered bunker, the blind par three 'Himalayas' played over a large sand dune, and the iconic 17th 'Alps'. The clubhouse retains old-world charm and offers dining facilities, a pro shop, and guest locker rooms. Practice facilities include a putting green, but there is no driving range. The club is relaxed and friendly towards visitors.
