Panmure Golf Club
Links/Heathland Course in Carnoustie, Scotland
Panmure Golf Club, located in Barry, Scotland, is one of the oldest golf clubs in the world, founded in 1845. It moved to its current site in 1899. The course is an 18-hole, par 70 links-heathland mix, measuring 6,551 yards from the black tees, 6360 yards from the white tees, 6113 yards from the blue tees and 5684 yards from the yellow tees. The course architect was Old Tom Morris and James Braid made modifications in 1922. The course features tight fairways, challenging carries, undulating greens, and 83 bunkers, with 81 spread across 15 holes. Ben Hogan famously practiced at Panmure before winning The Open at nearby Carnoustie in 1953. The club has hosted numerous prestigious events, including Open Championship final qualifying. Visitors are welcome daily and are expected to adhere to a traditional dress code. The clubhouse, modeled after the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, offers dining facilities.
