Murrayfield Golf Club, founded in 1896 and located just three miles west of Edinburgh city centre, offers a picturesque and challenging 18-hole Parkland/Heathland course. Designed by James Braid, Willie Park Jr. Snr, and Willie Park Jnr, the course incorporates the natural contours of Corstorphine Hill. While the front nine features hilly terrain, the back nine opens up with wider fairways. The layout, playing around 5781 yards with a par of 70, is known for its tight fairways and fast, smooth greens, providing a fair test for golfers of all abilities. Players can enjoy magnificent views over Edinburgh, East Lothian, and Fife, and the course's proximity to Edinburgh Zoo sometimes adds unique sound effects to a round. The club features a welcoming clubhouse with a bar and restaurant, a pro shop offering lessons and custom fitting, practice facilities including a driving range, chipping green, and putting green, and amenities like locker rooms and hire services for clubs, pull carts, and motor carts. Visitors are welcome on weekdays, with advance booking recommended.
