Carnwath Golf Club
Parkland Course in Carnwath, Scotland
Carnwath Golf Club, founded in 1907 and extended to 18 holes in 1922, is a mature parkland course located on Gallow Hill to the west of Carnwath village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Originally laid out by Willie Auchterlonie and later redesigned by G.M. Clark in the early 1960s, the course offers scenic beauty with undulating fairways and rolling greens. The layout, featuring the historic Carnwath Motte visible behind the first green, presents challenges with par threes early in the round and roads and a railway line coming into play, emphasizing accuracy. The course is accessible from Glasgow and Edinburgh and welcomes visitors year-round, with no handicap certificate required. Facilities available include a pro shop, practice areas like putting and chipping greens, changing rooms, lockers, and a restaurant and bar.
