Worthing Golf Club (Lower Course)
Downland Course in Worthing, England
Nestled on the slopes of the South Downs in West Sussex, Worthing Golf Club is a historic venue featuring two 18-hole layouts. The Lower Course, often referred to as the Colt Course, was largely shaped by the famed architect Harry Colt and opened in its present form in 1923, succeeding an earlier layout designed by Harry Vardon from 1905. This downland course is known for its interesting and testing character, particularly through a memorable stretch of holes winding through a picturesque valley known as Deep Bottom, overlooked by the ancient Cissbury Ring. While offering a fine test of golf with undulating fairways and well-placed bunkers, the Lower Course provides a classic English golfing experience without being an Open Championship Qualifying venue.
