Westerhope Golf Club

Westerhope Golf Club, located in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, is a parkland course with a history dating back to its origins as a municipal course. The club officially opened on June 21, 1941, initially as a nine-hole layout due to wartime restrictions. The course was designed by Alex Herd, the 1902 Open Champion. Over the following decade, the course was expanded to its full 18 holes, with the current layout being largely consistent with Herd's original vision. The course is known for its gently undulating fairways, mature trees, and well-placed bunkers, offering a fair test for golfers of various abilities. While not a frequent host of major professional events, Westerhope has been the venue for Men's and Ladies' Northumberland County Championships and other county and PGA Pro-Am events.
