West Herts Golf Club
Parkland Course in Rickmansworth, England
West Herts Golf Club, established in 1890, is one of Hertfordshire's oldest clubs, originally located at Bushey Hall before moving to its current site at Cassiobury Park in 1897. The course has a rich architectural history, with Old Tom Morris initially laying out the course, followed by modifications from Open Champion John Henry Taylor and later Harry Vardon. The layout was completely refashioned by the renowned Alister MacKenzie in 1922. Set on a rolling plateau, the parkland course is known for its mature trees, well-bunkered greens, and fairways laid on free-draining gravel and chalk. Recent work by architect Marc Westenborg has focused on bunker renovation and strategic placement. While not a regular Open Qualifying venue, the club does host county-level competitions, including the Herts Salver.
