The Berkshire Golf Club (Red Course)

The Berkshire Golf Club, established in 1928, is home to two highly-regarded heathland courses designed by Herbert Fowler. The Red Course is particularly notable for its unique configuration of six par 3s, six par 4s, and six par 5s. This layout, unusual in England when it was conceived, provides a varied and engaging test of golf across undulating terrain adorned with pine trees and heather. While the par 5s are generally not considered long by modern standards, the collection of par 3s is often highlighted as a strong feature of the course. The club has a rich history in amateur golf, hosting significant events such as the English Amateur Championship and the Berkshire Trophy, the latter boasting past winners including Nick Faldo and Sandy Lyle. The Berkshire Golf Club has also served as a venue for Regional Qualifying for The Open Championship.
