Tadmarton Heath Golf Club

Tadmarton Heath Golf Club, established in 1922, is a classic heathland course situated in Oxfordshire, England. Designed by Major Cecil Key Hutchison, who also collaborated with James Braid on Gleneagles' King's Course, Tadmarton offers a traditional golfing challenge. The course, set on a hilltop, is known for its firm, fast-running fairways and testing greens, with gorse featuring prominently, particularly on the inward nine. The layout is not overly long by modern standards but requires strategic play due to the prevailing wind and well-placed hazards. The club successfully recovered after parts of the course were used for farming and tank training during World War II, with play resuming in 1947. Notably, Tadmarton Heath has previously served as a venue for Regional Qualifying for The Open Championship. The club prides itself on traditional values and its free-draining sandy soil ensures playability throughout the year. Recent renovations under the guidance of course architect Ken Moodie (Ken Moody) have focused on bunkers and greens, enhancing the course's presentation. Tadmarton Heath has been recognised, featuring in Golf World's Top 100 courses in GB&I with a green fee of £65 or less.
