Nestled in the picturesque Dedham Vale on the Suffolk/Essex border, Stoke by Nayland Resort is home to two 18-hole championship golf courses, the Gainsborough and the Constable. Both courses, created in the early 1970s by the enterprising Peake family who diversified their farming land into a golfing destination, are set within 300 acres of stunning countryside. The Gainsborough course, named after the famous artist, opened in 1972 and is the longer of the two layouts. It is known for its challenging design, featuring lakes, streams, and mature woodland that demand strategic play. The course has played host to a number of prestigious professional events, including the PGA Europro Tour, European Senior Tour PGA Seniors Championships, and the European Challenge Tour (The English Challenge).
