Clacton-on-Sea Golf Club, established in 1892, is a club with a rich history on the Essex coast in England. The course, influenced by the work of James Braid following earlier layouts by Thomson and Jack White, occupies a site acquired in the early 20th century after relocating from its original grounds. It presents a largely flat parkland test, featuring a mix of open and tree-lined holes that run alongside the sea wall. A notable characteristic is the presence of 'fleets', or ditches, which act as strategic water hazards across the course. While not typically cited amongst the most famous championship venues in the UK, it offers a pleasant round with greens often regarded as being among the finest in the county. The prevailing coastal winds can add a significant challenge to play.
