About Shortwood Lodge Golf Club
Shortwood Lodge Golf Club, located near Bristol, offers a parkland test for golfers. While some historical accounts suggest an establishment in 1925 with influence from Harry Vardon, other sources point to the current 18-hole course being laid out in 1976 or opening in 1975, having undergone transformation in recent years under the ownership of Ian Knipe. The course itself is characterised by undulating terrain, tree-lined fairways, and strategically placed bunkers and some water hazards. The layout, playing to a par of 70 over approximately 6,129 yards, provides a varied challenge. It is worth noting that one source from 2019 indicates the course may be disused with plans for development, however, other listings suggest it remains operational as a golf club. Shortwood Lodge has not been noted as a venue for Open Championship Qualifying.
