New Mills Golf Club
Moorland/Parkland Course in New Mills, England
New Mills Golf Club, established in 1907, is an 18-hole course situated above the town of New Mills in Derbyshire, England. The club was originally founded as a 9-hole course on farmland, with an agreement that allowed the farmer to continue grazing livestock. The initial layout was designed by a Mr. Hambleton of Romiley Golf Club. Over the years, the course has seen changes, including a redesign of some holes in the 1930s by the club's professional, Fred Jones, with input from the Captain of Cavendish Golf Club. The course was later extended to 18 holes with the acquisition of additional land, with the new holes opening in 2002. The course is known for its challenging layout and provides panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, including the Kinder Plateau and the Cheshire Plain. It is a moorland/parkland style course with undulating fairways and strategically placed bunkers. The club offers a welcoming atmosphere to visitors and members.
