Parkland Course in Colchester, England
Lexden Wood Golf Club, now operating as Playgolf Colchester, is a parkland course situated in Essex, England. Originally known as Lexden Wood Golf Centre, the club underwent a significant redesign in 2006/2007 by architect Jonathan Gaunt. This redevelopment added considerable length to the course, bringing it to an 18-hole, par 70 layout, and incorporated around 80 new or reconstructed bunkers. The course features USPGA specification greens and generous teeing areas, designed to allow for year-round play. Undulating fairways and tree-lined holes characterize the course, with water hazards also coming into play on several holes. While not a traditional championship venue, it offers a thought-provoking test of golf.
