Leek Golf Club, nestled in the Staffordshire Moorlands, boasts a history dating back to 1892. Initially a 9-hole course, it relocated before settling at its current Big Birchall site. The present 18-hole course, designed by Tom Williamson, a professional at Notts Golf Club, opened on July 5, 1923. The layout remains largely unchanged since its opening, a testament to Williamson's original vision. The club became a member of the 1892 Club, an organization allowing members from other clubs founded in the same year to play their course. In 1924, six-time Open Champion Harry Vardon reportedly inspected the course and seemed pleased with the design. The course itself is characterized by tree-lined fairways and undulating greens. It offers a challenging yet fair test of golf across its parkland setting. The course provides four convenient starting points, allowing for flexible social golf. While not known as a regular Open Qualifying venue, its historical connection to prominent figures in golf history and its enduring layout make it a notable club in the region.
