Hillside Golf Club, situated in Southport, England, traces its origins back to 1911, initially operating as a 9-hole course. It was expanded to an 18-hole layout, opening fully in 1925. The course underwent significant transformation in the 1960s under the guidance of architect Fred Hawtree, who notably remodelled the back nine. More recent work by Ebert (Martin Ebert) has focused on enhancing the front nine. This links course is characterized by a relatively flatter outward half playing alongside the railway line, contrasting with a dramatic inward nine that winds through towering sand dunes and is framed by mature pine trees. Hillside has a strong history of hosting significant events, including numerous amateur and professional tournaments. Notably, the club has served as a venue for Open Championship Final Qualifying since 2014.
