Ashton and Lea Golf Club

Established in 1908 as Ashton Golf Club, the club moved to its current location in Lea in 1912 and was renamed Ashton & Lea Golf Club. Initially a 9-hole course, it was extended to 18 holes in 1914, though wartime saw it revert to 9 holes for food production. The course is known for being relatively flat but requires strategic thinking to navigate. Water features prominently on the back nine, impacting seven holes. Notable holes include the picturesque par-3 6th with a ditch and out of bounds, and the short par-4 13th which presents a risk-reward tee shot over water. The greens are described as small and challenging. While not a frequent Open Qualifying venue, the club does host various open competitions.
