Established in 1891 as a nine-hole layout near Blaise Castle, the course was later extended to eighteen holes, with notable design contributions from Rupert S Black and Arthur East. Over the years, the course has seen various improvements and changes, including land acquisitions in the 1950s for new holes, alterations to the 15th in the 1970s, and the introduction of four new greens in the late 1990s. The layout is known for requiring accurate tee shots and challenging small greens. While not listed among the top tier courses, Henbury provides an engaging round within a pleasant woodland setting.
